2004 Stokesdale Open Space Plan
In 2002 Stokesdale
Park representatives made contact with the North Carolina School of Landscape
Design in hopes of Stokesdale being chosen for development of a custom Open
Space Plan through the school's Extension Services program. Thanks to a grant
from the Town of Stokesdale to pay for planning expenses (travel costs for NCSU
students and faculty, printing, etc.), our community was chosen for the project.
In 2003, led by Dr. Achva Stein, Dean of the School of Landscape Design and a
recognized urban planning expert, faculty, staff and students of the School made several
trips to Stokesdale to gather information about our community and collect input
from the citizens during several charette sessions. The results of that research
were compiled into the Stokesdale Open Space plan which was formally accepted by
the Town Council in the Spring of 2004. Please follow the link below to read the
plan. The entire report, including maps, is available to the public at the
Stokesdale Town Hall.
